Περιγραφή

Historical study that refers to the hill Philoboiotos which was located on the border of ancient Phocis  and Boeotia. We find this hill in the texts of Polyaenos in the framework of the Third Holy War, and Plutarch’s Parallel Lives (Sulla, 16) in the frame work of the battle of Chaeroneia (86 BC) between the Pontiac army under the orders of Archelaos and the Roman army under the orders of Sulla. There are three hills claiming their identification with Philoboiotos Hill:  (a) the hill of Kravassaras (“Koukouli”, (b) mount Parori and (c) Ai- Lias Hill in Prophet Elias.  All three  of these hills are geographically part of the Boeotia Regional Unit today. Many travelers, scholars and historians in general have attempted to identify Philoboiotos according to their own point of view. After long studies the author identifies Philoboiotos with the hill of Kravassaras (today "Koukouli") (village Vassilika).
